Gentle Paws Farewell provides pet euthanasia in West Sussex with a peaceful home visit led by an experienced vet, giving you privacy, clear guidance and unhurried time in familiar surroundings.
We support families across West Sussex and Hampshire. If you are unsure what happens during a home visit or what the next steps look like, this page explains the process clearly.

What pet euthanasia at home involves
Home pet euthanasia means your dog or cat stays in a place that feels safe and familiar. Many families find this reduces stress for pets who struggle with travel or unfamiliar environments, while also allowing everyone to be together at home during this difficult moment.
A calm visit at your pace
When we arrive, we take time to meet you and your pet, answer questions and explain what to expect. Appointments are up to 1 hour 30 minutes long, moving at your pace throughout. We only proceed when you feel ready.
Urgent appointments
Urgent appointments are often available. If you feel your pet may need support soon, contacting us early helps us arrange a suitable time and guide you on next steps.

Dog Euthanasia
If you are supporting an older dog, a dog with a long term health condition or a dog whose wellbeing has deteriorated quickly, a home visit offers a calmer experience for everyone involved. Dogs often settle more easily at home, especially when they can stay on a favourite bed, in a familiar room or close to their family.
What we help with
We talk through what you are seeing at home, explain what to expect during the visit and support you with aftercare choices once the final goodbye has taken place. If you would like more dog specific detail, our Dog Euthanasia page provides additional guidance.
Cat Euthanasia
Cats often feel safest in familiar surroundings. A home visit can help avoid the stress of travel and unfamiliar smells, which can be especially important for cats that become anxious when leaving the house. We take a gentle approach, allowing time for quiet reassurance and clear explanations before anything happens.
What we help with
We support you through the visit at a pace that feels right for you. We also guide you through aftercare choices in a calm and practical way. If you would like more cat specific detail, our Cat Euthanasia page provides further information.

Pre euthanasia consultation
If you are unsure whether the time is right, you can book an optional pre euthanasia consultation. This is a 30 minute online or phone appointment where we discuss your pet’s situation, answer questions and guide you on what to consider next. If a home visit feels like the right option, we can help you arrange an appointment and explain what will happen.
Aftercare choices
After saying farewell, you choose what happens next. Some families prefer to keep their pet at home for home burial. Others choose cremation.
Cremation arrangements
If cremation is chosen, we carefully transport your pet to a crematorium. Private cremation includes ashes returned where selected. Communal cremation does not include the return of ashes. It is also fine if you prefer to arrange aftercare yourself.
How to book
You can book using the online form, or you can contact us by phone, email, text or WhatsApp. Once we receive your message, we will contact you to confirm the details and answer any questions. You will then receive an email confirming the date and time of your home visit.
